PACHAKUTI SERIES I & II is a solo exhibition of mosaics by New York based artist, KATHLEEN RUEL. This exhibition will run from February 17 - March 17,  2011.

PACHAKUTI SERIES I & II is a visual dialogue and expression exploring the Sacred Masculine and the Divine Feminine in relation to the notion of "Pachacuti". Translating as “turn of the world and of the times”, the term Pachacuti was originally used by the Inca to indicate the end of a 500 year cycle and the beginning of a new one.

When Sacred Masculine and Divine Feminine are in balance, the energy can transform that which is hard to transform.  Amazingly beautiful and exquisitely powerful, it is the antithesis of destruction and holds the potential for pure creation.  It is this beautiful potential that Pachakuti Series hopes to illuminate.

Ruel's series is an artistic response to an energetic shift.  This series reflects shadows, healing, gifts, and shifts of a present-day Pachacuti.  A synthesis of information, impressions, messages and experience, the art series is multi-layered and may resonate on the personal, familial, cultural, or global level. It is in the spirit of consciousness and solution that this work comes through.

By working artistically and visually with both her hands and earth materials, the artist sought to create order from chaos and give voice through image, color, pattern and form.  The mosaics utilize a combination of recycled glass, travertine, agate slices and marble (some of which include fossils) from Italy, Spain, France, Brazil, Mexico and the United States.
