K. KOBAYASHI
K. Kobayashi skillfully blends elements of Color Field painting and abstract expressionism with Shodo, a Japanese calligraphic art form. Using acrylic, graphite, and ink, her paintings feature densely packed and evocative compositions that combine gestural sweeps of color with the flowing, graceful lines of calligraphic script.
Many of her works incorporate distinctive Shodo marks, applied in a curvilinear manner. Through the inclusion of these pictorial scripts, the artist seeks to establish a visual dialogue with the viewer. Drawing inspiration from her memories, Kobayashi aims to encapsulate the essence of her experiences on paper.
