GARRY GRANT
Drawing inspiration from both historical and modern urban landscapes, as well as local and global affairs, Garry Grant's artwork is driven by concepts rather than a linear narrative. In the tradition of artistic influences like Jack Whitten, Sam Gilliam, Mark Rothko, Norman Lewis, and Al Loving, Grant showcases his prowess as a colorist and demonstrates his inventive spirit through experimentation with new materials, textures, and methodologies. Distinctly contemporary and dynamic to behold, Garry Grant's body of work serves as a powerful testament to his deep connection with his African ancestry and the lived experience of a Black man in twenty-first-century America.
Born in Detroit, MI, Garry Grant attended the College for Creative Studies in Detroit and the American College of Applied Arts in Atlanta, GA, where he studied graphic communication, computer graphics, and fine art.
